Malangeli

Angelina Jolie impressed in everything from Versace to Saint Laurent during the press tour for Disney’s Maleficent earlier this year – but there was one accessory in particular that caught our eye in May: remember the incredible sculpted pair of pointed wedges Angelina wore to promote the movie?

Turns out, the shoes were designed by the actress herself, in collaboration with the master of the red-soled stiletto, Christian Louboutin. The pair crafted the “spellbinding” style, named Malangeli, in the designer’s Paris atelier – inspired by Jolie’s character in the Sleeping Beauty remake.

Speaking to US Weekly, Christian Louboutin said that the villain provided plenty of inspiration for his design process. “It is exciting to work with someone who has such a strong aesthetic and character,” said the designer of the project. “Getting to know Angelina through a fun collaboration has been one of my greatest pleasures.

The patent leather shoe features a sculpted wedge with tendrils of smoke forming the heel and a nude mesh base, designed to further the sense of illusion and magic. Jolie wore them in black, silver and gold during the Maleficent promo tour.

The limited-edition style is now available to pre-order in black or red at five Christian Louboutin boutiques worldwide (New York, California, London, Hong Kong and Paris) priced $1,600 (£950 or €1.195), with profits from sales benefiting SOS Children’s Villages – the world’s largest organisation dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children in 133 countries. Jolie has been a supporter of the charity since 2003.

With such a wickedly fabulous design and Angelina’s star quality there’s not doubt that the shoes will sell fast. The question is will you buy considering the price? They are after all Louboutins.  Evil never looked so good… 😉
