Louis Vuitton has tapped its former creative director Marc Jacobs’s muses to show off his last collection for the brand.

Jacobs, who amicably parted ways with the French fashion house in October after 16 years, has a long-standing friendship with film director Sofia Coppola, who models a sheer, beaded top from the spring/summer 2014 collection and a chic bucket bag.

Portraits of French actress Catherine Deneuve, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing and French model Caroline de Maigret form part of the mix. British model Edie Campbell, who opened Jacobs’s last show and who scooped the Model of the Year prize at this year’s British Fashion Awards, was also cast.

Steven Meisel captured the photos, for which the subjects were given generous blow-dries by Guido Palau.

Talking to WWD, Frédéric Winckler, Vuitton’s communications and events director, said: “It was a very emotional shoot, and I find this shows in the images. It’s really celebrating women who inspire Marc.”

Jacobs left the label after 16 years to concentrate on his eponymous brands – which are both partly owned by Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH. The Marc Jacobs label hopes to make an IPO in the future, and needs to be seen to have its creative head concentrating exclusively on the brand to boost market confidence.
