Google has just released its annual zeitgeist list – a compilation of the most Googled names, subjects and events of the year.

Take a look at the fashion personalities you’ve been searching for the most throughout 2013 and their most memorable moments from the last twelve months.

01cara1. Cara Delevingne

Defining moment: From getting a lion tattoed on her finger, to having a cake made in the shape of her head and starring in a slew of new ad campaigns, it’s been another busy year for Cara. My vote for defining moment of the year however, goes to her appearance as one of Karl Lagerfeld’s finale brides at the Chanel autumn/winter 13 show – his way of supporting the fight for same-sex marriage in France.

02Paul2. Paul Smith

Defining moment: British fashion institution Paul Smith has been enjoying the fruits of his success this year with an exhbition, Hello, My Name Is Paul Smith, which recently opened at London’s Design Museum.

vivienne-westwood-00213. Vivienne Westwood

Defining moment: She may be best known for her flamboyant fashion designs in some circles, but Vivienne Westwood is now nearly as renowned for being a committed environmental and political activist. She’s been spotted supporting numerous causes this year including dedicating an entire collection to Bradley Manning, attending anti-fracking protests and petitioning the government to do more to stop the decline of bee populations.

04-Victoria4. Victoria Beckham

Defining moment: She may have been named one of the world’s 100 most powerful women and caused a frenzy by donating some of her clothes to charity but we have no doubt that Victoria Beckham’s highlight of 2013 was winning Designer of the Year at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

Kate-Moss5. Kate Moss

Defining moment: As ever, Kate Moss has not been short of newsworthy antics this year but, for me, it was a tie between her landmark Playboy cover and the Special Recognition accolade she picked up at the British Fashion Awards.

Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley6. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Defining moment: Without a doubt her turn as Alice in Wonderland/Dorothy opposite David Gandy and Helena Bonham-Carter in the Marks & Spencer Christmas advert. She gets down to her underwear twice in two minutes and that takes some skill.

07McQueen7. Alexander McQueen

Defining moment: Sarah Burton has kept the Alexander McQueen label thriving since the passing of Lee McQueen, but it was his early designs which took centre-stage this year at the Somerset House exhibition Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!

08-Alexa8. Alexa Chung

Defining moment: I wasn’t surprised to see Alexa Chung on the list because, let’s face it, she’s perennially popular – but it was undoubtedly the release of her first book It and her debut make-up line for Eyelure which kept people Googling throughout 2013.

09-Vera9. Vera Wang

Defining moment: Between pulling out of the main tent at New York Fashion Week and dressing Lady Gaga as a Christmas tree, Vera Wang has hit the headlines for a number of reasons in 2013. However, winning the Geoffery Beene Lifetime Achievement award was definitely my favourite.

naomi_1010. Naomi Campbell

Defining moment: 2013 saw Naomi Campbell take to the small screen in The Face, her own television modelling competition. The supermodel let her inner diva shine as she stomped, strutted and shouted her way through her role as head judge, sparking demand for spin-offs in America, France, Canada and Australia.
